Dodd: Straight to the Point

user-pic

Chris Dodd wastes no time. In his short opening statement, Dodd cuts to Bolton's record of failure. The bottom line, Dodd says, is that Bolton gets a failing grade for his performance over the past year. Some highlights:

- My objection isn’t that he’s a bully, but that he’s an ineffective bully.

- [On North Korea, Bolton] publicly assured everyone that he could get a resolution with teeth. He didn’t.

Dodd also put the blame for the failure to implement resolution 1559 on Hizbollah on Bolton and pointed out his indifference to early Human Rights Council negotiations. He also said that the NSA intercepts and intelligence information that were withheld from the Senate last year are still relevant, and quoted the Ambassadors who have publicly criticized Bolton this week.

Bolton's speaking now.
