Sleater-Kinney, the only band that matters, to break up. Also popular in the education-blogging community it seems.

the only band that matters

Word.

(*sniff*)

For a long time, I thought, they were very good within a very straightforward idiom. The last CD stretched that much further than I expected, and the very fine, even unnerving experience reminded me of Courtney Love's one rise from deranged personality to music, Live through This. But if they can't go any farther, I can understand and don't feel upset.

It wouldn't surprise me if they are reaching physical limitations, particularly vocal. Maybe it's uncool to say so, but I wish Lucinda Williams had taken better care of her voice-- and what SK do is much more stressful.

Hey, The Corrs resent that remark!

Well, a Corrs fan does, anyway. Actually, the Corrs couldn't care less about your opinion, with over thirty million albums sold worldwide, platinum in twenty countries, two Grammy nominations, the Stones and Bono and Nelson Mandela love 'em, etc., etc.

And they ain't breaking up yet, either - Andrea is doing a solo album to keep the name out there while the rest of them deal with new babies. Watch your ass, Britney, Christina and Jessica - Andrea can do more with her eyes and her mouth than the rest of you can do in bikinis...

Transhuman, even by your standards this is a new level of irrelevance.

Not that the Corrs are bad or anything. Just that they have zero relevance to a Sleater-Kinney fan.

I think my point was that Sleater-Kinny was irrelevant to ninety-nine percent of the people at this site, therefore I might as well stand up for the Corrs, who are probably also so irrelevant.

As I mentioned elsewhere, these days Matt is tossing off quickies just to be posting, it seems.
