The Senate is debating measures that would further limit or abolish the estate tax.

US Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton demanded Kofi Annan repudiate remarks made by a UN Deputy Secretary. Annan said through a spokesman that he stood by his deputy’s speech.

Democrats seized the opportunity to criticize the White House and President Bush for incompetence in the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Theft of computer data from the department leaked the personal information of over 2 million active duty service members.

The EU will put forth a proposal to help pay the wages of health and education workers in the Palestinian Territories. Since taking control of the Palestinian Authority Hamas’ ability to pay government wages has been limited.

President Bush sees Iran’s reaction to the recent incentives package offered by the West to stop uranium enrichment as “positive” and says, “I want to solve this diplomatically.”
