Better Suffixes Needed
Speaking of information technology, Congresspedia is pretty cool, but I have to object to the name. The idea is to associate the site with Wikipedia because they use similar underlying technology. But Wikipedia is called "Wikipedia" because it's a wiki encyclopedia, and what Congresspedia has in common with it is being a wiki, not being an encyclopedia. It should be Congresswiki or something.
And, yes, I promise to think of something more substantive to worry about.

Actually this might be serious. Actually I think I'm getting bothered by this.

Congresspedia also sounds awful--like some kind of parasite you get from drinking bad water, or maybe the drug you'd take to kill it. Yuck.
Yuck factor aside, I think it's cute when you worry about things like this.

Finally, a post I can comment on.
Congresspedia's decision to require them to register means they'll have a hard time improving their quality -- there's an argument to be made that an entrenched site like Wikipedia should require registration, but for a new site, it'll prevent growth. Wikipedia attracted people by making that first edit utterly simple -- a kind of cigarette marketing policy -- give away packs and hope people get addicted. (I've blogged a quick suggestion for future Wikipedia clones.)
