Back and Forth
I have what I thought was a not-so-negative review of David Sirota's book in the print Prospect that's now online. David, in turn, has a rejoinder to me up on his blog. Rather than engage in an endless round of recriminations, I think I'll just leave it at that.

"They assigned Matt Yglesias - a writer with whom I have disagreed with vehemently in the past."
I would like an example of a writer David has disagreed with, but not vehemently.

Matt,
You should at least say if you read the book since that is one of Sirota's implied allegations.

I agree with Petey. This is the kind of thing with which I have been frustrated with in the past.

David Sirota is by far the stupidest pundit/intellectual, whateber you want to call him in the Progressive sphere. I'm still at a loss as to what exactly he knows, and how he comes by an audience.

Sirota's shtick is professional asshole. He's in it for the thrill of the attack, not the underlying values. Rich suburban kid decides to coopt progressivism for the sheer enjoyment of being a provocateur. Keep an eye on guys like this - the ones from our parents' generation turned into David Horowitz.
