A Moment of Silence on Thanksgiving
A woman integral to just about every Thanksgiving meal is no longer with us:
Ruth M. Siems, a retired home economist whose best-known innovation will make its appearance, welcome or otherwise, in millions of homes tomorrow, died on Nov. 13 at her home in Newburgh, Ind. Ms. Siems, an inventor of Stove Top stuffing, was 74.
The cause was a heart attack, according to the Warrick County coroner's office in Boonville, Ind.
Ms. Siems (pronounced "Seems") spent more than three decades on the staff of General Foods, which introduced the Stove Top brand in 1972. Today, Kraft Foods, which now owns the brand, sells about 60 million boxes of it at Thanksgiving, a company spokeswoman said.
May she rest in peace. Pass the gravy.

Not meaning to throw a wet blanket on the party, but that stuff is nasty. Real stuffing is jsut as easy to make.

Do people really make if for Thanksgiving Dinner? I'm not considered a great cook. But, I'm the one who makes the Stuffing and puts it in the bird. And I do it from scratch. I've done this every Thanksgiving since I was 14.

Yes, I picked up a box a couple of weeks ago. I think it tastes great. I used it the last two years when I was called upon to make the turkey and dressing. This is rare because I am single.
I rarely really cook because it is a pain to cook for one. Actually, Cook the recipe for 4 and eat it all. I eat a lot of Hungry man dinners and instant meals.
Today, I wanted to make Emmitt Smith's Sweet Potato Casserole to take over to the meal. However, I found that I don't have the small amounts of cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, flour or sugar needed.
I guess I'll just buy a pie at the store.
