What's New...

Today at TPMCafe, Warren Reports Jason Spitalnick wonders why it's okay for a giant corporation like Entergy to file for bankruptcy but not for ordinary men and women, and America Abroad's Ivo Daalder wonders if there is a third way in (or, rather, out of) Iraq. From our discussion tables, DaveHawk makes a case for Evan Bayh in 2008. Also, don't miss Matt Yglesias exploring the notion of Singularity and explaining why Democrats should stand behind Davis-Bacon. (and not start stabbing other members of the progressive coalition in the back).

Mark your calendars: Gov Tom Vilsack of Iowa will be stopping by our Table for One starting Monday.

If next week's guest at Table for One will be Tom Vilsek, someone might want to get in touch with Gov. Tom Vilsack to see how he feels about this possible impersonator.  Perhaps a quick edit would be in order.
I surely hope that there will be a number of serious columns about the upcoming MAJOR peace demonstrations coming up this weekend in DC and elsewhere.  We should remember that even though the Democratic Party leadership may be hedging on the issue of Iraq, a solid majority of Democrats have long been opposed to the Iraq War, and the concerns of this solid majority  of Democrats deserves considerable attention before as well as after the gathering.

Unfortunately, being disabled and in MA it is too stressful for me to attend this and many other events that I would otherwise surely attend, as I did with scores of peace marches and events in the 80s, but I am supporting the mobilization for peace in spirit.

Surely this issue merits significant attention at TPM Cafe on the main scroll, and

I got a 'post failed' indicator, so posted again.   This is one reason why it is urgent that the site also get an edit function for those posting including some kind of 'autodelete'.
