Back In The USA
So I'm back in our nation's fair capital and kind of jet-lagged at the moment, but regular blogging schedule should resume tomorrow. A final thought on Iceland would be that the country has long had some excellent energy policies and they're taking strong steps to make things even better. It would be nice if we could have something like that here at home.

Ah, such a wonderful Internet companion, Matthew Yglesias, a fellow who goes off to a strange, remote country full of remarkable sights and distinctive culture (aside from the Yanqui imperialism at the movies), and his first report to us upon his return is that he is struck by the country's excellent energy policies. Swim in any hot springs? Chat up any Nordic ice princesses? (Non-American English teacher division) See the glaciers melting?
Well, even if not, welcome back. Let me fill you in on what you missed while you were gone:

Welcome back, Matt.
There's a great story on Iceland's hydrogen buses on Grist Magazine, by the always-excellent Bill McKibben.

Checking those links I dare say there is "nothing wrong with Iceland". When I checked the last link you provided to the Apollo Alliance, there are some names of governors I want to see at the top of the ticket in '08. More proof we are the only party of ideas...

Since you dont have comments over at TAPPED, I have to use this space to object to your knee-jerk dismissal of the <a href="http://www.prospect.org/weblog/archives/2005/08/index. html#007450">"deplorable giant puppets crowd."</a>
So when we marched against the war, was that "deplorable"? Should we have waited to make up our minds, like so many responsible liberals? And yes, we chanted "No blood for oil." Well, it wasn't ever only about the oil, so I guess that oversimplification was deplorable. But we were sure right about the blood.
