What's New...

user-pic
Our Coffeehouse contributors continue the debate over the likelihood that Karl Rove will get away with leaking Plame’s name. Marshall Wittmann thinks the odds are pretty good, while Reed Hundt delves into the realm of counterfactual history, wondering: what would all this look like if a Democrat were in office? Mark Schmitt argues that this is not just a matter of Rove having a bad week, but the entire Rove system having a bad year. And check out Matt Yglesias discussing how l’Affaire Plame might require us to recognize the real constraints placed on mainstream journalists.

In our Reader Blogs, you’ll find a lot of suspicious minds about Rove’s “slip-up" and the right’s uproar over Gonzales’ potential nomination to SCOTUS. According to Annie Lamott, such suspicion is wholly warranted. To join in the conversation, head over to our Misc Politics table.

At House of Labor, Nathan Newman takes on Sandra Day O’Connor’s anti-union track-record. And don't miss Bill Fletcher's post previewing the kinds of tough questions that will be asked at the landmark AFL-CIO convention later this month.

It's time for President Bush to apologize to Joe Wilson, Valerie Plame and the American people.

Unfortunately, the President is still stuck on Step 8 - making amends - of the Bush 12-Step Program.

What's new to me is that it is conventional wisdom, now, that Valerie Plame DID send her husband, Joe Wilson, to Africa to investigate the yellow cake matter.  I hear this as a talking point from the Republicans and on CNN (C. Crowley).  I must have been dozing off.  Is this true?  Has Wilson's story been discredited?

Is the rest of Joe Wilson's story holding up to scrutiny?

Why is no one paying any attention to the latest developments in the London bombings? The bombers appear to have been home-grown suicide bombers from middle-class, "good" families in the north of Britain. The implications of this are huge for the war on terror, for Britain, for Europe generally.

KATE: I started a new thread on this. Please post - thanks.
